it ain't so bad
After finding out in early December that we were expecting again, I at first doubted my good judgement. A baby due in mid-to-late August? Knowing full well my lower extremities swelling tendencies during a pregnancy--what, what, WHAT was this summer going to be like? I envisioned propping up these sweet things:
and being the best damn couch potato one can be while still ensuring L and G didn't mortally wound each other or reduce our home to rubble and ash.
But, I should really know myself better.
Roughly ninety percent of the time I ABHOR lying on the couch. I ENJOY getting out of the house to do something every day. And even though my legs and ankles are puffy...I don't care. Or rather, I don't care as much as I thought I would. Slather on a little self-tanner and say the hell with it has been my motto. I'm not working this summer so the combination of running around and resting while the boys nap has been excellent.
It seems in the same quick few seconds it takes Leo to say ZOO ANIMALS ARE MY FRIENDS! the month of June has come and gone and July feels like it's being a copy cat. I am now the mama to a 2 1/2 year old, and a 14 month old! (A post devoted solely to Gus will be coming soon. I like to reflect on each month of my children's lives until their second birthday. After the two year mark--I give it up.)
Currently in the works for me: giving Gus's old room a girly makeover. Maybe I'll post some pictures when the look is more polished. The fence that was on Mitchell's summer to-do list is so, so close to being finished. You can imagine how much work he actually gets done with two (un)skilled laborers under the age of three close on his heels:
Why don't I watch them inside while he's out there--you might be thinking? No way. When their daddy is outside, with tools, an army of cloned me's couldn't hold Leo and Gus back.
Here's to hoping your summer ain't so bad either.
